Where to install my spa? Indoor or outdoor?

The question is: where should my spa be located? Indoors? Or outdoors? Of course, the constraints are not the same.

Installing an Outdoor Jacuzzi Spa

First of all, you need to make sure that the floor where your spa will be installed can support the weight of the filled Jacuzzi right up to the water line, and with people inside, this weight can easily rise to 450kg / m² and more!

Space can also be a constraint: a spa can easily occupy 6m² of floor space, and you need to be able to access it when you need it. So if you’re looking for a convivial spa to welcome family and friends, installing it outdoors is often the wisest and most feasible choice in terms of layout.

Spa water is heated to an average of 37° inside, which means high humidity. For this reason, it’s essential to cover the floor and walls with water-repellent materials. What’s more, you’ll need a room that’s well ventilated by the VMC, and a dehumidifier if you don’t want the room to deteriorate rapidly.

THE IDEAL LOCATION FOR MY SPA

Outside, there are a multitude of possibilities for the location of your future Jacuzzi. On a terrace, in the garden, alongside a swimming pool

In the Scandinavian tradition where the Nordic bath was invented, the bath is positioned outside, and it’s certainly during cold spells that you’ll appreciate having a spa in your home the most.

Outdoors, it’s easy to install a built-in or semi-recessed spa that perfectly matches the layout of your space.

Do you have a large garden? Are you tempted to install the spa at the bottom of the garden to create a real relaxation bubble? The idea is tempting, but you need to consider a few criteria to find the ideal location for your jacuzzi so you can make the most of it.

It’s best to choose an installation close to your home. If you feel like slipping into a hot bath and enjoying the massage jets at minus 10°C, you’ll be glad you’re not walking through the garden in your bathrobe and boots!

Placing your outdoor Jacuzzi spa under a tree may also seem like a pleasant idea, but beware of falling branches and leaves, which could fall directly into your spa water when you’re in it, or damage the cover when your bath is closed.

An interesting alternative for enjoying the garden and its views, while protecting your spa from the elements: build a shelter. You can opt for a gazebo or a pergola, or choose from a wide range of shelters to create a relaxing space that’s just right for you!

WATER / ELECTRICITY

Whether you’re installing your spa inside your home or in your garden, it’s mandatory to run a direct power supply cable between the electrical panel and the spa, protected upstream by a specific circuit breaker, fitted with a differential circuit breaker adapted to the spa’s power rating.

Depending on your home, you may choose a single-phase or three-phase installation. In all cases, your power supply must be installed by a qualified professional.

The location of your power line must be in one of the 2 corners of the spa on the control panel side, and have a minimum length of 4 m at this point.

Water drainage: a floor drain must be installed to evacuate overflow water. A drain for spa water must also be installed.
