What is the ideal water temperature for a spa?

Spa water temperature

For optimum relaxation, we recommend heating the spa water. To determine the ideal water temperature, you’ll need to take into account the length of the spa session, the user’s physical condition and preferences, and the outside temperature.

The ideal spa water temperature

Although the temperature in a spa can range from 32°C to 40°C, temperatures between 37°C and 38°C are among the most pleasant. For adults wishing to enjoy a session lasting around ten minutes, temperatures between 38°C and 40°C are ideal. On the other hand, for pregnant women or children who wish to enjoy a relaxing moment of more than ten minutes in the spa, it is advisable that the water temperature be between 32°C and 35°C.

It’s important to point out, however, that the temperature indicators found in spas most often vary by plus or minus 2°C. A thermometer is therefore recommended for reliable information.

For an adult, the maximum temperature in the spa is 40°C. Above this limit, the temperature can represent a health hazard for the user. In particular, too high a temperature can affect blood pressure, or lead to a cardiovascular accident for sensitive individuals.

Note also that the warmer your spa water, the more it needs to be treated to prevent the proliferation of bacteria. L’Atelier Nordic can advise you on the most suitable and healthiest treatment products for your skin.
